Morita Chemical plans to build a new lithium hexafluorophosphate plant in China

Recently, Japan’s Morita Chemical said the company plans to 2018 its factory in China’s lithium hexafluorophosphate production capacity increased to 7,500 tons / year, an increase of 5 percent. In addition, Morita Chemical also plans to build a new plant for lithium hexafluorophosphate in Taixing City, Jiangsu Province.

Matsuda New Energy Materials (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd. is located in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province. It is jointly funded by Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation (China) Co., Ltd. in 2004. The existing lithium hexafluorophosphate capacity is 3,000 tons / year The

Lithium-ion battery electrolyte mainly by the electrolyte lithium salt, solvent and additives. Asian chemical consulting data show that in 2016 China lithium-ion battery electrolyte production is about 7.1 million tons, the corresponding consumption of lithium hexafluorophosphate about 08,800 tons. Asia Consulting is expected in 2017, China’s lithium-ion battery production is about 79.3GWh, electrolyte production is about 81,000 tons, lithium hexafluorophosphate consumption of about 10,000 tons.

Prior to 2004, Japan’s Rising Chemical, Morita Chemical and Kanto Electricity monopolized the global lithium hexafluorophosphate industry, when the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate in 600,000 yuan / ton or more. From 2011 onwards, the domestic multi-fluorine as the representative of a number of enterprises successfully broke the production process of lithium hexafluorophosphate into the domestic electrolytic enterprise supply chain, to promote the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate gradually lower, 2012 price of 25 million / ton. After 2013, lithium hexafluorophosphate overcapacity phenomenon, to the second quarter of 2015, the lowest price reached 84,000 yuan / ton.

Since then, to benefit from the domestic new energy vehicle production and sales booming, and power battery-related materials (except for the diaphragm) prices are sharply higher. Lithium hexafluorophosphate as the raw material of the electrolyte, the price since the second half of 2015 began to soar, only a few months time rose to 40 million / ton. 2016 to the beginning of 2017, with the gradual release of lithium hexafluorophosphate production capacity, lithium hexafluorophosphate prices fell to 30 million / ton.

Asian chemical consultation database shows that in 2016 China’s lithium hexafluorophosphate production capacity of 20,600 tons / year, 2017 China lithium hexafluorophosphate production capacity will increase 14,000 tons / year, reaching 34,600 tons / year.
