Vanadium carbide and its preparation method and process

Vanadium carbide, black crystal, density 5.25-5.4 black crystal, melting point 2750℃, slightly harder than quartz. Mainly used in the manufacture of vanadium steel, can also be used as carbide carbide additive. Can be used in structural steel, tool steel, pipe steel, rebar, ordinary engineering steel and cast iron. The research shows that adding vanadium carbide to steel can improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness, strength, ductility and hardness as well as thermal fatigue resistance, and make the steel have good weldability, and can eliminate inclusions extension.
At present, the preparation of vanadium carbide mainly consists of the reduction of vanadium pentoxide or vanadium trioxide with coke. However, the preparation of vanadium carbide by the traditional method mainly involves the problems of low purity of vanadium carbide, complex preparation process and high reaction temperature. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a method to prepare vanadium carbide, reduce the reaction temperature, simplify the preparation process and improve the purity of vanadium carbide.
The purpose of the invention is to overcome the defects of the existing technology, provide a preparation method of vanadium carbide with simple preparation process and low reaction temperature, and improve the purity of vanadium carbide.
In order to achieve the above purposes, the first part of the invention provides a preparation method for vanadium carbide, which includes:
(1) Mix vanadium pentoxide powder and polyethylene powder evenly, and then granulate in an extruder to obtain granule containing carbon source and vanadium source;
(2) The granule containing carbon source and vanadium source is crushed to obtain the powder containing carbon source and vanadium source;
(3) After drying the powder containing carbon source and vanadium source, the powder is calcined under vacuum conditions to produce the vanadium carbide.
Preferably, step (1) includes: The temperature of each section of the extruder for granulation is 140-260℃.
Preferably, the polyethylene powder is low density polyethylene powder and/or high density polyethylene powder.
Preferably, the average particle size of the powder containing the carbon source and vanadium source is 80-100 m.
Preferably, step (4) includes: after drying the powder containing carbon source and vanadium source, conduct a calcining and cooling under vacuum conditions; The vanadium carbide is then prepared by secondary calcining and cooling.
