Appearance: White amorphous powder

Beryllium oxide is a crystalline oxide that can be obtained directly from burning beryllium compounds or beryllium. Like alumina, it is a good fire-resistant material. Sintered beryllium oxide is very hard and has the characteristics of ceramics. Beryllium oxide is very stable, but can be easily broken down when heated with ammonium hydrogen fluoride or sulfuric acid.

Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in acids and bases

The newly prepared beryllium oxide can easily react with acid, alkali and ammonium carbonate solution to form beryllium salt or beryllium salt. Beryllium hydroxide is formed by being slightly soluble in water.

Application:

It is mainly used for making neon lamp and beryllium alloy, and as catalyst and refractory for organic synthesis. [6] it is also the raw material of beryllium oxide ceramics with high thermal conductivity
