Chemical properties: White with yellowish powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in acid.
Use: Used as material for making metallic samarium, magnetic materials and memory elements.
It can be used as infrared absorption glass additive, coating in photosensitive materials, samarium cobalt permanent magnet material, and raw material of metal samarium production.
Mainly used in the production of metallic samarium, samarium cobalt permanent magnet materials, electronic devices and ceramic capacitors.
Production methods:
The rare earth chloride solution obtained from monazite or mixed rare earth ore was extracted with P2O4-kerosene-HCl-RCl system. Firstly, the samarium and HREE were divided into groups, and then the medium and heavy rare earth were extracted with 2.0Mo1 /L HCl, and then the heavy rare earth was extracted with 5.0mol /L HCl. Samarium and gadolinium enrichment of medium rare earth were obtained by grouping. After zinc powder reduction, europium was extracted by basicity method. Samarium and gadolinium were separated by mixed rare earth grouping method. Samarium oxide was prepared by dissolution, precipitation, separation, drying and burning with oxalic acid. Its Sm2 (C2Od) 3 – Sm2O3 co2 + 3 + 3 c0
