Physical and chemical properties: white powder, yellow when heated, insoluble in water, co-soluble with potassium pyrosulfate, potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate, soluble in carbonate and hydroxide of alkali metals, hydrofluoric acid and hot sulfuric acid.
USES: Niobium pentoxide is used as raw material for the production of metallic niobium, and is also used in optical glass and electronic industry. Niobium pentoxide is used as a single crystal of nickel niobate to make special optical glass, high-frequency and low-frequency capacitors and piezoelectric ceramic components. Also used for the production of metal niobium, ferroniobium, niobium, niobium carbide, tantalum niobium complex and special steel needs of a variety of niobium alloys.
Also used as catalyst, refractory, etc.
